What’s in a name?
Letters and heritage
While the body and face
Betray or relay
The truth of the lives
We’ve lived as the sun rose and set
A thousand times over.
Who asks the questions
Of truths and humility?
We all will hit the bottom
When we hit our walls.
When we crumble to ash,
The phoenix takes our place,
Spreading wings eager to fly once more.
Here is my cage, as well as my nest,
Here I learn if I knew better,
I would do better.
Here I will give it my best.
Pain and love are a language
Universal throughout this world,
A tongue I speak better
When I don’t speak at all.
