The Partroxis maze is possibly the best-loved, and perhaps, most feared maze in all of Aardwolf. On this page, we provide some tips on tackling this maze, ensuring your best chances of survival.
To get to the maze, 'enter partroxis; enter partroxis; enter other' from the entrance of the area.
Every mob in the labyrinth is noscan and nearly every one is aggressive - if you are visible, they will attack you! Be sure to hide, be invisible and sneak/trace.
Some mobs can detect hidden and invis (the most common mob is Reality Check in room 21) - they are listed below. Be sure to cast your invis spells and sneak after fighting these mobs.
Never flee. Fleeing (and often, retreating) is the best way to die in this maze, since almost every room in the maze contains aggressive mobs. Instead, if you are attacked, kill all the mobs in the room and then re-cast your invis spells before moving on to the next room.
Wear your shield while fighting groups of mobs. Shields reduce the damage you take by 15%, which ensures you'll survive longer.
Each room in the maze can have NESWUD exits. Some rooms have gates that you must enter instead of using the regular directional exits.
There are plenty of fake exits in the maze. A fake exit is one where there are two or more possible exits with the same name to choose from, and only one exit is correct. Use the maze helper below when solving the maze to help you recover from fake exits.
Hunting is banned from the maze. If you hunt a mob, you will be sent back to the beginning of the maze.
To exit the maze, hunt any mob (Elf is a safe choice), buy a rock from The Patryn Sitter, and then drop it. You will be sent to recall. You will need 25,000 gold to purchase a rock.
For more information, say 'inform me' to The Patryn Sitter in the first room.
There are several ways to use the maze helper. You can:
Determine which room your quest mob is in. You can then decide whether or not to fail the quest if the mob is really far into the labyrinth.
Use the maze helper to help you identify the next room exit you should follow.
Track your path from room to room to recover from a fake exit.
To solve the maze effectively:
Locate the correct room number in the table below, and click in the Exit Direction box to focus on that row. Starting with room 1 is highly recommended.
In your MUD client, type 'exits' and look for the exit that matches the next room name in the maze.
Follow that exit, and then come back here to enter the direction you took into the Exit Direction box (neswud). Press tab to go to the next row.
Repeat steps 2 to 3 until you reach your target, taking care to read any notes that are provided for each room.
If you followed a fake exit, click the Oops button in that row to generate a speedwalk back to the previous room using the exit directions you entered. This will ensure you don't waste any time getting back to where you were.
Alternatively, you can also use the Start/Finish buttons to generate a custom speedwalk.
If a repop occurs, you will have to re-map all of your room exits (sorry, but that's the way mazes work in Aardwolf!). Click the Reset Exits button at the bottom of this page to clear your exit directions. Note: Solving the maze while a Global Quest is in the area is not recommended.
You have 14-15 minutes between repops before the exits change again.
