Code-E
Written by Danj

Japan's most recent anime season (Summer 2007) has been rather lacklustre, and offers few shows that seem worth watching. One such show is Code-E, a show about a girl who seems to have the innate ability to emit electronic radiation.

Unfortunately, she isn't able to control it very well, and so if she gets stressed, nearby electronic devices start malfunctioning. This also means that she can't own a cellphone or personal computer. Because of these circumstances, she and her family end up having to move around a lot and she has transferred schools several times. The series opens just after one such transfer. On her first day at the new school, she encounters a boy who is head of the science club, and he manages to work out that there is something strange about her by observing the odd effects on electrical equipment. This leads to an amusing scene at the end of the first episode where she thinks he is propositioning her, but he is actually asking to know more about her ability.

Code-E seems like it should be an engaging show; only a few episodes have aired so far, so it remains to be seen how it will develop, but the premise is interesting. Definitely worth checking out.

Code-E is not currently licensed for distribution in North America and is being fan subtitled by Formula Subs. Please support your domestic anime industry by purchasing this title when it is licensed in your territory.
