Schoolgirls are Aliens?! Or, A Review of Blue Drop The current anime season in Japan has been rather thin on the ground in terms of good titles, so although I've had plenty of time on my hands there haven't been many that have piqued my interest. Fortunately, Blue Drop is one of them. It starts out with a young girl, Mari Wakatake, being sent off to a prestigious boarding school. She lost her parents in a disaster several years earlier, and up until now she has been living with other relatives. One of the people she meets in her new dorm is Hagino Senkouji, who seems like a kind, intelligent and elegant girl. However, when Hagino shows Mari to her room, for some reason when she touches Mari's arm, her eyes start to glow blue and she tries to strangle Mari... It's quite an interesting show, with an inventive mix of friendships and betrayals (both human and alien) and scifi elements, combined with school slice-of-life scenarios. Definitely worth checking out. At the time of writing, Blue Drop is unlicensed and has been fan subtitled by Genjo Subs and FLoser.
