New Poker Palace is a Palace of Greed
Immortal Clans Profits Up
Written by Staff Reporter

This past month, a new Poker Palace has landed in the Aardwolf Realm. Immediate impact has not yet seen, but it is unmistakable that it will have far reaching influence in the Aardwolf economy. With the addition of the Poker Palace, an adventurous gambler in the Realm can now play roulette, black jack and poker. One question that has arisen from this endeavor: When are the slot machines and video poker devices to be put in?

A week after the new Poker Palace was installed Xantcha, the proprietor and operator of the Poker Palace, held a press conference. Prior to this interview, only a few short press releases of the actual operations were given. The press releases made it seem that Xantcha was receiving no direct profits from the poker games. More to the point, all gold that was brought in through both the tables and weekly loan business run by Ivar Inc. were to be given to the Homeless Mobile League. When the time came for the initial interview, the press releases were shown to be wrong. Xantcha was living the high life.  His accommodations, which were larger then the Temple of Mota, were lavishly outfitted with gold, the finest silks and various artwork piece that fit all forms of description. It was also noted that the new large golden throne seemed a bit over the top for a simple immortal. Xantcha was flanked by Ivar and Hassan, who seemed more than happy to be in a place of wealth and power.

His initial comments seemed rather lackluster when commenting on the outbreak of poker addictions that had sprung up around the mortal and immortal world. "There is no problem," he started off, "if certain people just don't know when to say enough. We provide a service; if they do not know how to control themselves in those circumstances then it is their problem."

"To respond to the allegations of my direct profit of this new system, I feel that it is slander. We receive no direct profits from the new Poker Palace, any thoughts towards that are simply misguided and false." Xantcha finished. Feeling that he had said enough, Xantcha left the press conference. Hassan and Ivar showed all of the reporters the way out.

With a growing number of Heroes, Super-Heroes and Tiers offering their services, lives, and most treasured possessions up for sale, something needed to be done. The immortals Aerianne and Sirene stepped forward to help. A new group was formed to combat these poker addictions. Poker Addiction Anonymous (PAA) was formed to help all of the wayward players that were addicted. No information has been given as to the numbers enrolled in the program or if there have been any successful graduates.

The honesty and well-being of the PAA has come into question shortly after its formation. Sightings of Sirene visiting back room poker games have surfaced. The rumors have begun that Tela is helping to seduce Sirene into her own addiction. Tela, the Realm's newest immortal, appears to be Xantcha's left-hand girl. The right hand of Filt stayed anonymous in any associations with Tela or Sirene. The back room games have been said to be high stakes games with Sirene always winning. This could be a conspiracy to undermine the successfulness of PAA. Sirene, Tela, nor Aerianne were available for comment prior to publication.

The future of the Poker Palace within the realm is yet to be seen. The PAA seems to be a step in the right direction. The long-term hope is that no more players will be seduced by this side game, and that it will become another black jack where only the rich or financially stable players will take part.
