I was talking to some friends on FTALK the other day, and we got to thinking about some of the best discontinued equipment from V1. Oh, sure, we all remember with fondness some of the great clan gear, but what really sent me back was the flourescent toothpick.

It was a gameload weapon that must have been snuck in by some crafty builder. You could only get to the room the dude was in by doing a random translocate and even then, the guard was built like a tank. Still, you couldn't deny the strength of the weapon and the low weight. The bonuses were off the chart (you know, there was an actual chart, I saw you know, there was an actual chart, I saw it once on the test portit once on the test port) and it was hands-down the best offhand weapon in the game. Why, some folks could get to 200 dual wielding the suckers!

We all thought we might be exploiting something when we found it, so we'd tend to keep it to ourselves. One guy in the group said he used to keep it in a bag, and only pull it out and wield it during fights, and then he'd stash it again!  But I knew what to do - I contacted the builder and had him restring it to look like an Aard weapon! Yeah, nowadays you can't do that sort of thing. We sigh wistfully at the Tir-via Point Token of yesteryear.
